Over the weekend, I was extremly busy but in a good way. Right after my freshman orientation, me and
Dressed up in our outfits ( which looked rather nice, mind you), we stormed into the convention only to be met by people whose own outfits outdid our's tenfold. However, we are students so what do you expect? lol
There were people with mechanical arms, gears grafted onto their faces. Cross-dressers ( for the annual Queen of Steam competition they hold there ), men in top hats, girls in green faerie outfits and airship pirates abound. And that's just before you make your way into any of the various vendor rooms.
The items sold ranged from earrings to necklaces, corsets and medieval/ Rennaisance pouches and bags. There was even Steampunk shoes at one vendor's table. Pocket watches? You got it. Victorian riding hats? They're there as well. Me? I bought myself a green Celtic pouch, a scarab necklace and earrings for my mother. All of this stuff wasn't too pricey, it was the things I really wanted that was: a book that looked like it could contain medieval spells, a nice hat with gears and curly copper bits adorning it.
Mind you, I bought at least close to 200 dollars, if not a bit more. Everything was decently expensive and most things out of my price range. However, I got a free CD from a band playing there called the Kreptatka Bar Band. Yes, there was live music and entertainment throughout the day. And what's not to love about stuff that is free?
Other then that, I had a 4-H lock-in on Friday to get stuff done for this year's CloverCon '11. I could not stay for the entire time, sadly, so I was htere from 9 to midnight. Most of the time I was working on the banner that would hang up, telling everyone who entered that they were being welcomed to CloverCon. And I must say, when I left the building that night, the banner was coming out quite well.
So now, I must go and concentrate on PROM stuff ( the event is on Thursday this week), my Art final project and the artwork I'm doing at CloverCon this year.
Peace!
Yours truely,
Faith ( Flaming Chibi )
