It was my first time this weekend attending the crazy 3 day event that is known to the world as AnimeNext 2011. But I was not alone: no no, I was joined by fellow 4-H members in my club. This was our big event of the year, besides CloverCon '11 next week and the 4-H Fair in August.
Most of us attended for either 2 of the 3 days but one or two only made it for Sunday: a shame, since there was just so much to cram into this weekend!
My schedual on all the days rougly ran like this:
a) Get up around 7 in the morning to get ready.
b) Run out the door to be there in between 10 and 10:30.
c) Plan out what to do with other club members, like panels and what not.
d) Go on over to the Dealer's Room and Artist Alley.
e) Go to a panel or two before a main event.
f) Meet up with others for lunch and more perusing through Artist Alley and the Dealer's Room while catching some more panels.
g) Wander around for a while before meeting up with the rest of the club members.
Now, obviously, there was a slew of cosplayers. More of them were really well done then not, and I bumped into a few multiple times over the course of the 'con weekend, including:
- Dante from Devil May Cry
- A Thief from Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
- Grell Sutcliff from Black Butler
- My friends who were part of a Kingdom Hearts II
If I could give you a full list of characters I saw, why, I'd go crazy listing them all! But here's just a handful of them, in no particular:
Grell, Sebastian, Ciel, Lelouch, C2, Sora, Roxas, Kairi, Riku, Axel, Zexion, Luxord, Axel, Marluxia, Saix, Xemnas, assorted Heartless, Terranort, Dante, Pac-Man, America, Prussia, Russia, England, Canada, Egypt, Japan, China, Italy, Alucard, Integra, Allen Walker, Lavi, Kanda, GLADOS, Zack Fair, Cloud, Sephiroth, Tifa Lockhard, Squall, Tidus, Yuna, Pain, Rikku, Wolfwood, Vash the Stampede, the Weighted Companion Cube, Inuyasha, Miroku, Kagome, Kikyo, Seshomaru, Yami Yugi, Bakura, Seto Kaiba, Marik, Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, Prince Zuko, the Heavy, Blue Spy, Mechanic, Engineer, the Prince, Grimmjow, Ichigo, Rukia, Byakuya, Aizen, No-Face, San, Totoro, Edward Elric, Roy Mustang, Alphonse Elric, Red Mighty Morphin' Power Ranger, Death the Kid, the Joker, the Mad Hatter, Yoko, Kamina, Lightning, Ezio, Plague Docter, Link, Mexican Sora ( lol ), Eevee, Flarion, Jolteon, Vaporeon, Umbreon, Lefeon, Glaceon, Moltres, Pikachi, random Pokemon trainers, Peter Pan, Belle, Esmeralda, Finn, Sirius Black, Harry Potter, Bellatrix Lestrange, Hermione, various Doctors from Doctor Who
, Naruto, Sasuke, Waldo, Mr. T, NyanCat, the Troll Face, and assorted zombies.
And those are the ones I could identify!
I think though I bought a good ammount of stuff there too. My list of things bought include:
A dragon poster, a pair of earrings, a 'Super Kitty' bookmark, a 'Shoop da Whoop/ Firin' mah Laz0r' button, a Bleach
Captain's jacket ( Gin Ichimaru's ) and a pair of straw sandals, and a CD. I can't say what else I got because those would be for friends. lol
And then there's those people who I met. - points to the title of the Journal-
1) I met a Japanese singer for the band Sixh. They were a special musical guest at AnimeNext this year, and I didn't realize he was ( what I like to call) a Japanese sex god until a woman with blue fan with 'SIXH.' on it came over and asked if I wanted a picture with him. I said yes: he put his arm around my waist next to me, stood underneath my parasol with me and *CLICK!* picture taken. :3
2) The man, the myth, and the legend himself: VIC MIGNOGNA. Perhaps you've heard his voice as Tamaki from Ouran High School Host Club
and Edward Elric in FullMetal Alchemist
Got to meet him twice. TWICE. Once on the second day and again on the last. I got a few things autographed and then a picture. On the second time I met him, he gave me a bear hug and kissed me on the cheek!! : D He also smelt really good, too. lol
And then thre was Grell. At least this one Grell cosplayer who acted in character the entire time at the 'con. Me and my friend Katie now
this chick because she acted in character the entire time.
In short, my 'con weekend was awesome. Loved it, and now I have another con to prepare for: CloverCon '11 on Saturday. Looking forward to that!
Have a nice day,
