   Free Fall
  By Faith D.

Paper thin snakes dyed steely gray
Provide a cross-wire confusion.
Victims held in it's cold icy grip
Fear, anticipate, hearts a-thudding away.
A prison with bars trap them by shoulders,
the beast's hunger no where near sated.

  Down
           Down
                    Down into it's maw.
Spinning around, so close to the ground.
Fistfuls of needles pound into one's mind,
free falling then escaping thy iron-clad fate.

Lesson learned: no roller coasters
    right
          after
                Sunday brunch.
Written for the literary magazine Cicada's monthly poetry challenge, where readers have to write a poem about a given word.

This month's word is ESCAPADE.

I hope the editors and readers enjoy it as much as I do :3

'Free Fall', a poem, belongs to ME, Flaming CHibi, NOT YOU.
